Sydney Polo Club

On a more refined note our partners at Sydney Polo Club are hosting their annual Gold Cup this Sunday 19th October. If your first mental image of polo is the little guy on your shirt you’ve never experienced real polo!

By ‘polo’ we’re talking about the one Omar Khayyam (the 12th century Persian poet not the other guy) described as the King of Games and the Game of Kings. By ‘real’ we mean world class players. Full size championship fields. Sweat. Muscle. Heat. Horses with shaved manes and wrapped tails.

If you’ve never seen polo real or imagined this Sunday 19th is your chance as the Gold Cup is one of the biggest tournaments of the spring polo calendar, attracting several thousand people and we’ll be there suited up representing Nacho Figueras style.

To the inexperienced eye, polo translates to something akin to rugby on a horse; fast paced, explosive and intensely physical. We were fortunate to watch Ellerston (Jamie Packer’s team) recently play at SPC and were immediately hooked by the agility of the players, speed of the game and magnetism of the ponies. Goals came quickly, the game was highly entertaining and easy to follow.

The appeal of polo’s other secrets - vintage champagne, locally sourced wine, organic produce, exotic cars and pimms - are not entirely lost on us and Sydney Polo Club have it covered from every angle.

We'll be there making the most of the day so if you’re coming we suggest arriving before noon for a good spot, then come find us for a post-chukka drink and chat. We guarantee you will be enchanted.

Empire Ave: LOST in Space

Apparently Tim Kean is pretty good at throwing parties/events – some say he has even reinvigorated the events landscape. This is only proves how much I don’t get out, as I’d never heard of LOST Events before. Bingo and Canasta continue to rule my life..

One of these LOST events was held last weekend on Cockatoo Island, the theme was LOST In Space – everyone kinda dressed up in space theme, didn’t see any pictures of George Jetson tho. By all reports it was a fun event, the photos sure do look like fun. Wish I was there…

ART VS. SCIENCE, JENSEN INTERCEPTOR AND MOTORIK TO HEADLINE HUGE LOST PARTY

ART VS. SCIENCE, JENSEN INTERCEPTOR AND MOTORIK TO HEADLINE HUGE LOST PARTY

If you're a fan of beats in this drop-loving city, you'll probably be across the names Spice,Motorik and LOST. If you're new to the build-ups and breakdowns, these crews are your go-to partymakers, constantly churning out some of Sydney's biggest (and most wonderfully chaotic) shindigs around town — from the well-known Spice Cellar to mystery warehouse spots citywide. This weekend, the three are teaming up for a space odyssey of an interstellar get-together, with some of the city's favourite beatmakers on the space-themed bill (previous themes have seen LOST on the Trans Siberian, in the Blitz and in the Underworld).

For the past five years, founder Tim Kean has cranked out some pretty epic dance events after years working with Modular and Kaos Music. This Saturday, August 2 is no different, with the location still a mystery and thousands of guests guessing where the big ol' throwdown will be held.

Headlining the event is ARIA award-winners Art vs. Science, with Sydney d-floor favouriteJensen Interceptor in tow. Motorik Vibe Council will front up their particular brand of beat slinging goodness, while Robbie Lowe, Cassette, Bondi House DJs, Wordlife, Sosueme DJs, Pink Lloyd, Sam Fransisco, Simo, Jericho and Obi-Wan-Keithnobi make up one hell of a pounding lineup.

Sydney Insiders Event: LOST PARTY

Sydney Insiders Event: LOST PARTY

The legendary LOST parties are boarding a train for their next event … This will be the biggest moving party Sydney has ever seen and you are invited to join them. This event celebrates the Secret Circus and pays homage to those who lived and loved the circus and who endeavoured to make the impossible… possible.

CNN: Sydney's LOST Parties

It’s the secret party cult that is hosting the hottest events around Sydney.

Tickets are bought months in advance and preparations for dress-up are thought about long and hard. Groups of friends follow the same costumed theme. Facebook messages reach fever pitch as the party looms.

On the day of the event, a text message from the organizers is sent to all involved and the meeting point is revealed. Party-goers gather in front of train stations or bus terminals and await transport to the mystery venue.

Passers-by are always curious to find a scene that looks like a film set. Then the party journey starts. The destination is an explorative fantasy world of dress-up where alter egos dance the night away to euphoric tunes.

How did it happen?

The LOST parties started when three like-minded friends had a simple idea. Party organizer Bollo posted: “To hold a party on a Sydney Harbour island with breathtaking views, a sandy beach and a thumping sound system. A party with enough room to roam free and dance, to play, to swim. A festival without fences, without drink queues... Without attitude.”

That's where it begun: on a harbor island. "LOST on Tran Siberian Express" followed; then other parties rose including "LOST in the underworld," "LOST at the alter" and "LOST in the Badlands."

The LOST movement was born: events have now been held throughout greater Sydney. The venues are chosen to take partygoers from real life into the LOST universe.

What happens?

There are the LOST groupies who have never missed a party. The crowd is a mix of heterosexuals and gays dressed to impress, pushing their fashion imaginations. For a day, people live by a different identity.

The LOST parties are not for the faint-hearted. It’s sexy, kinky, humorous and hedonistically confronting. A dress theme that caters to everyone’s dark imagination. The secret location then plays host to local and international DJs who can turn a crowd into a party that would do the Rolling Stones proud.
